So Christmas Eve is a big food holiday in my family.  We always have hosted it and we put on a somewhat traditional 7 fish Italian dinner.  There is usually way too much food to eat and in years past a lot of it was fried.  This year we strayed a little bit from that, but not by much, and we kept true to the tradition of 7 fishes. Now being a girl that doesn’t actually eat fish, I usually tend to dread this dinner, but this year I forced myself to try almost everything.  Let me take you through our menu and tempt your visual palate with some pictures of what we ate.  My family yells at me for taking pictures of everything so hopefully you all truly enjoy them!

The menu:

Hot Antipasto Course:

  • mushrooms stuffed with seafood stuffing
  • stuffed calamari
  • mussels in a garlic white wine sauce (a personal favorite)
  • fried smelts (fresh sardines)
  • salmon cakes
  • homemade mozzarella sticks

Cesar Salad with Homemade Dressing

  • there were anchovies in the dressing

Pasta Course

  • Crab sauce with angel hair pasta
  • and plain marinara

Dessert

  • Cannoli cake
  • cherry and walnut pound cake
  • brownie bites with orange mints on top
  • jubilee roll
  • peanut butter balls
  • thumbprint cookies
  • pizzelles
  • peanut butter blossoms

* I apologize for the pictures being all weird but the blog didnt want to cooperate and I didnt feel like fightingIMG_1177 IMG_1180 IMG_1185 IMG_1187 IMG_1188 IMG_1195 IMG_1197 IMG_1198
