Half and Half Dressing

This is my special half and half recipe, and today is a one-time deal for me to share this special secret of mine.

  • olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar
  • red wine vinegar
  • dried minced garlic
  • dried oregano
  • dried basil
  • salt and pepper

Let’s think back to learning ratios and percents in elementary school math. Count the final dressing amount as a whole and call it 100%. Therefore, we want the oil to make up 66% and the vinegar to make up 33% of the mixture. That way about 1/3 of the mixture is vinegar and 2/3 of the mixture is olive oil. You should first add your oil into a container (use however much you think you would realistically use in about a week, maybe 1/4 or 1/2 cup), then add red wine vinegar until it is just shy of a third of the mixture. Then add a significant splash of balsamic vinegar until the mixture is about 1/3 vinegar. Add 3 shakes of oregano, 2 shakes of minced dried garlic, and a pinch of basil, salt, and pepper. Shake well or whisk until fully combined.

And that’s it! It’s simple, but delicious, so share it only with the people you really like. ;]
